Launch of State of Social Protection in India Report
Jaishankar Memorial Centre (JMC) recently participated in the launch event of the State of Social Protection in India Report – Highlights and Way Forward, organized by the SETU Coalition. The report was launched by Ms. Siddhi Mankad, Co-Lead, Community Action Collaborative, and provided important insights into the current landscape of social protection in India and the way forward.
During the Member Spotlight session, representatives from FES, SNEHA, ISAP India Foundation, and FXB shared their experiences of strengthening social protection at the grassroots. JMC’s ongoing work was also highlighted through close collaboration with SETU. JMC has organized several outreach camps in its catchment areas and has successfully enrolled over 3,000 beneficiaries in 12 social protection schemes, ensuring vulnerable communities gain access to essential entitlements.
The event also featured a panel discussion moderated by Ms. Alka Narang, with eminent speakers from academia, corporate sector, development organizations, and government. The discussion focused on challenges, innovations, and pathways to advance universal social protection in India.
JMC had actively participated in the State Consultation on Social Protection in Delhi which was part of the consultative process that shaped the report. Looking ahead, as we continue our collaboration with SETU and deepen our work on social protection in JMC’s catchment areas, we see this as an essential step toward empowering communities, strengthening their access to entitlements, and enabling them to lead more secure and dignified lives.
